Bourgogne Blanc

Like Bourgogne Rouge, Bourgogne Blanc is a generic appellation for white wines produced in Burgundy, from the Macon to Chablis, covering roughly 1,000 hectares of vineyards. Whilst Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc are both permitted in Bourgogne Blanc, Chardonnay dominates plantings and increasingly, many of the best examples are a key insight into the most famous producers of the region. Top producers like Château de Meursault, Pierre Boisson and Bachelet Monnot use high quality Chardonnay grapes, often using wine-making techniques that bely the appellation, resulting in some brilliant examples of aromatic, textured white Burgundy.
