Tasting Note:

Eight months in 35% new oak, 43% 1 year-old barrels. Fine boned crystalline flavours of flint, gooseberry and red apples, gently smoky not at all overdone with some bright white rocks, complex but not hard as it has been in the past, white stone fruit, lovely length and freshness on the palate. A certain phenolic structure keeps this vibrant but it is not intrusive and this very well made, impressive white wine is balanced enough that it will appeal and drink well on the young side, even if it is a bit closed today. The name “Yattarna” comes from the Aboriginal language meaning “little by little, gradually” and the style here has certainly evolved gradually. Ultra-fine Chardonnay blended from Tasmania, Henty, Adelaide Hills and Tumbarumba.
