Crisp, clean appley flavours with a hint of bell pepper and spice. Full but crispy with fine line of acidity and notes of white currant, peach and salt. Raised in a combination of large and small oak, the only wine in the range to do so. From a vineyard on the southeastern side of the Heiligenstein mountain where the soils are sandstone, volcanic and loess-rich. South facing exposition produces multi-layered, expressive Gruner Veltliners.
Weingut Birgit Eichinger was founded in 1992 and now comprises fifteen hectares of prime Kamptal vineyards. The style here is one of full bodied purity, best played out in Eichinger’s exceptionally salty, richly textured Gruner Veltliners that hail from a range of volcanic loess and loam slopes. Winemaking is precise and modern, seeking purity and freshness through almost exclusive use of temperature controlled stainless steel for fermentation and aging. Well-regarded amongst her peers, Birgit is a member of a renowned group of women winemakers in Austria; a close network designed to support one another in this traditionally male-dominated industry, exchange know-how and expertise, and new develop cutting-edge practices in the vineyards and the cellar. Furthermore, the estate is a member of the eminent Österreichische Traditionsweingüter (OTW), the union of Austria’s top wineries.
