Tasting Note:

A pure Blaufranksich from 10-30 year old plots on the Spitzerberg. The perfect introduction to the Dorli Muhr house style, Samt & Seide (Velvet & Silk) being the product of different elevations and east to west exposures. Very bright, pretty fruit with red and black berries and a subtle cracked black pepper character. Truly a mini-Spitzerberg and amazing value for money. Whole-bunch fermented in open wooden casks, 10-15% foot-trodden with no yeast or enzyme additions. In Dorli’s words, “slow fermentations with natural yeasts helps to build a natural cool aromatic character.” Matured for the first year in smaller cask plot by plot, and once the last vintage is bottled, the Samt & Seide plots are blended and move in to large traditional fuder for the second year.
