Tasting Note:

Chateau Angelus is clearly revelling in its promoted to Premier Grand Cru Classé 'A' status. After some rather foursquare, over the top efforts in recent years, Hubert de Bouard has really understood the 2012 vintage and has got it spot on. Produced from 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Franc, the 2012 offers up notes of toast, sesame and velvety, dark, sensual fruit. There is plenty of concentration here, with crème de mûre fruit, cassis, dark cherry and chocolate orange. There is an elixir of dark grapes; really sleek and polished, yet brooding, intense, serious and possesses a floral lightness and delicacy. A very enticing Angelus!
