Tasting Note:

Alain Vauthier's flagship estate is always remarkable and an utter pleasure to taste. Situated at the heart of the limestone Cote, the southerly slopes offer the best possible exposure, so ripening is rarely an issue. The 2013 Ausone is ethereal and complex. The bouquet offers an embarrassment of aromas. It is an indulgent fusion of violets, dandelions, kirsch, griotte, cool cassis, layers of minerals and potpourri. The palate is exceptional, with waves of vibrant crème de cassis fruit, very cool and refined with such wonderful purity. Graceful, long, complete, this is a tour de Force and an example if ever it were needed of the importance of terroir. Surely a contender for wine of the vintage.
