Tasting Note:

Owned by the charming Patrick Maroteaux, this fourth growth estate situated opposite Beychevelle is producing affordable, impressive and classy St Julien. Tasted at the UGC amongst some grand neighbours, this didn’t wow us like the magnificent 2010, but it is stylishly made, has plenty of extract and the tannins have been well managed. Not a blockbuster, and probably suffered in such a big tasting with so many tannic wines – we’ll give this the benefit of the doubt...
