Château Certan de May

Grape Variety:

Merlot Cabernet Franc

Château Certan De May, Pomerol, 2019

Tasting Note:

Jean-Claude Berrouet, the former wine-maker at Petrus has been consulting here for a few years and the change of style is really taking effect. After the magnificent Clos de Madeleine, this appears quite figgy and pruney, with notes of summer pudding, liquorice and black cherry. That said, the palate is rather lovely, there’s swathes of handsome, pure cassis, griotte and kirsch. There’s good energy and the tannins leave the mouth coated with dark fruit, mocha and fine minerals. Good detail and a fine lifted finish. 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
