Tasting Note:

We were thrilled by the Mouton range in 2011. Often, there is a tendency towards the massive and brooding, but in Herve Berland's farewell vintage, the extractions are ever so delicate and as a result the wines are pretty, perfumed offerings, and very appealing for it. D'Armailhac is produced from 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot and displays a floral bouquet with notes of bright red cherries and raspberries. This is slightly more blurry and less well defined than the Petit Mouton, but there is more tannic structure and an ample amount of fleshy fruit. Less alluring than the Petit Mouton, but will be a fraction of the price.
