Tasting Note:

Le Petit Ducru is the new name for Lalande Borie and is produced from vineyards in the west of the commune near Chateau Lagrange plus some declassified Ducru. Since 2015 the wine has found a real personality and charm and also represents one of the best value buys from St Julien. Quite heady with notes of flowers, crème de mûre and minerals. There’s a good attack of plush black fruit, rounded and quite luxurious, palate coating, approachable, and generous with a nice hint of spice from the Petit Verdot. This isn’t overly complex, but it’s refined, well made and will provide lots of drinking pleasure. 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 78% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot.

"The wine formerly known as Lalande-Borie. It has a supple texture right off the bat, just enough pencil lead, mocha, blackberries and savoury bilberry fruits to show a St-Julien signature. It has the dominant tannins of the vintage, but they are softened, this is plush through the mid palate with clear tightening on the finish. 30% new oak 3.68pH. A yield of 25hl/ha. Second vintage under this name and it remains a compelling choice in the appellation. Drinking Window 2024 - 2034" 92/100 - Jane Anson, Decanter.com
