Tasting Note:

The Domaine Baron Rothschild wines were on top form in 2010; a really stylish, powerful range. Duhart Milon was the most muscular example we can remember tasting from this estate. There are 73 hectares under vine on the western border with Chateau Lafite. The terroir is fairly typical - fine gravel mixed with aeolian sands on tertiary limestone bedrock. More reserved (than Carruades), intense cabernet perfume, very mineral and brooding. This possesses huge levels of concentration and extract; suave cassis and small berry flavours and cherry compote. There is monumental length and a wonderful, fine structure. Creamy, grippy tannins frame the ample fruit; this oozes class and refinement. A splendid, classical, genteel, age-worthy wine. 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot.
