Tasting Note:

Xavier Borie is one of the Médoc's great winemakers. Leaving Ducru two years ago has enabled him to concentrate his efforts on this and Haut Batailley. A 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot blend this has a very deep purple appearance. Substantial, seductive nose of roast meat and smoky oak over medium pronounced red fruit aromas. Good ripeness to the fruit, but elegant and restrained. Medium weight, good grip across the palate, and a dry, tasty finish with delicate hints of tobacco and oak. Sublimely elegant.
