Tasting Note:

The tireless pursuit of excellence that characterises the Guinaudeau output in 2016 is writ large in the two stunning dry whites they’ve produced. In 2016 Grand Village Blanc is a blend of equal parts Sancerre clone Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux clone Sauvignon Blanc, and Semillon, harvested from a two hectare plot with a little more clay in the soil than that used for red production, vinified entirely in stainless steel and bottled in the first spring after harvest. There’s an intensity and drive to this that belies the vintage (and its peers) as limes and gooseberry give way to salt and stones, the flavours intense, crystalline and focussed, yet not severe and lifted by a lively animating acidity. A vivid, uplifting Grand Village Blanc. Top stuff. Harvest was carried out between the 9th to 13th September for the Sauvignons and between 10th and 12th September for the Semillons.
