Tasting Note:

This is Xavier Borie’s “other wine”. It shares the class of GPL, but has an altogether different character. The nose is similarly quite dumb to begin with, opening nicely in the glass, but the fruit character is beguiling: so pure and clear, it almost tastes transparent. The tannins are silky, the fruit rich and fresh - “our Cabernets were very ripe” – with lengthy cassis on the palate, very classic. Half of the vineyard (about 10ha) lies at the southernmost edge of Pauillac, across from St Julien, where we found the wines to be most classic in spite of the heat of 2003. This is lovely wine, and very affordable. 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, cropped at 38hl/ha.
