Tasting Note:

Without question the most exciting Clarence we have tasted. Watch out for Clarence as the trend for second wines from First Growths grows in China. It is difficult to differentiate between bottles of the Clarence and the Grand vin, so a smart marketing ploy by Prince Robert... The wine itself is much more brooding and complex (than Chapelle de la Mission). There are wonderful mineral notes of molten rocks as well as high toned griotte cherries, flowers, liquorice and savoury aromas. The palate is awash with pure, silky compote fruit, cherries and summer berries. This is very silky, generous and far more concentrated than the previous two vintages. The overall impression is a sense of elegance and precision matched with a brooding power and intensity. 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot.
