Tasting Note:

By the time we arrived at Clarence de Haut Brion is was apparent that the Jean-Philippe Delmas and his team were on to something special with their range of 2018s. The Chapelle was mighty impressive and a first glimpse into the Clarence confirmed that this was another grand vin effort. Initially, this was more brooding than the Chapelle. With aeration wonderful aromas of mineral infused hedgerow fruit emerge. On the palate the fruit is more juicy and plump - this is surprisingly pretty with fine minerals, red cherry and salted red currants. This is packed with sweet, nervy fruit. It is intense, grippy, palate coating, saline and floral. We love the energy, vibrancy and tension - it is so mouth-watering and refreshing. A beautifully pitched Clarence. 58.2% Merlot, 9.7% Cabernet Sauvignon 28.5% Cabernet Franc and 3.6% Petit Verdot
