Tasting Note:

La Fleur Petrus is always one of the most sought after wines from Bordeaux. The original estate is a little over 9 hectares and is situated next to, you guessed it, Chateau Lafleur and Petrus. This terroir is unsurprisingly capable of producing exquisite wines. Now, the vines from Chateau Providence and a new parcel situated between Le Pin and Trotanoy (formally called Chateau Guillot) have swelled the estate to 18 hectares, making this the largest property on the plateau. There has been a real step up in quality here in the last few years, and the 2017 continues that trend. Produced from 91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, this is a gorgeous, brooding example of La Fleur Petrus. Deeply mineral infused fruit, crème de mûre, mulberry, dried fruits, cedar, Asian spice, cedar and herbs emanate from the glass. The palate is surprisingly pliable with ripe griotte, damsons and delicately spiced fruit. This is fluid example with plenty of noble cassis fruit and an assured tannic profile. It finishes with long, vibrant notes of cranberries, wild strawberries and a lovely saline touch. Delicious!
