Tasting Note:

It should come as no surprise that this is a contender for the wine of the vintage. Frederic Engerer described the 2010 at 'monumental', a fitting description for this extraordinary wine. At 14.4% alcohol, this is possibly the largest scale Latour ever. The bouquet is a brooding melting pot of savoury aromas: liquid graphite, slate, a hint of truffle, earth, toast, cigar smoke - there are also notes of perfumed raspberry and dark cherry fruits. This is an immense wine, hugely muscular, possessing tremendous power, multilayered fruit, crème de cassis, smouldering fruit, explosive, precise, mineral and intense. Every element is in perfect harmony; this oozes class and refinement - a real vin de garde. 90.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8.5% Merlot, 0.5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grand vin will represent just 36% of the production.
