Tasting Note:

We have heard a lot about the tiny 1.6 hectare vineyard, Le Violette since Mr Parker awarded the 2010 100 points. We decided to call in to Le Gay this year to see what all the fuss was about. Michel Rolland consults at all the family estates and it is clear that this operation is 'perfectionist wine-making' with a capital P. Selection is draconian and the wines possess a sheen as if every berry has been individually polished. Le Gay is produced from 90% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. There will be less than 1000 cases produced. Brooding, sweet core of suave fruit, wonderfully vibrant, fresh, long, impressive.
