Tasting Note:

Denis always has a catchphrase for each vintage. He describes the 2013s as 'unspittable' wines. It's a bon mot. 'Unspittable', because there is so little wine it would be a crime to, and 'unspittable' as the wines are gourmand and cry out to be consumed! Denis' second wine from L'Eglise Clinet is usually one of the fastest selling wines. This year, there will be more pressure than normal to secure an allocation. The total crop is just 7000 bottles. Produced from 100% Merlot planted on the gravel soils at the estate, this is lighter than usual; very floral, bright, mineral with a very 'red' fruit profile. There is surprising density on the palate. Flavours build and build. It is not the most generous Petite Eglise, but it is taut, refreshing, mineral and is an unexpected surprise.
