Tasting Note:

We were expecting a Blanc with echoes of the red’s towering structure and density. In fact, we were taken aback by a surprisingly austere and wiry feel to the Blanc ‘22. Perhaps a question of early-picking or more concentrated acidities, we’re not sure, however a crisp, high acid Sauvignon profile is certainly well felt in the blend, as green grassy notes allied to lemongrass and tea and limes race across the palate with a certain force and intensity. Hints of salt and honeysuckle follow up on the finish. The Blanc comes from clay-limestone soils, not gravel, planted on the south west of the appellation. 67% Sauvignon Blanc, 22% Semillon, 11% Muscadelle raised for 6 months in 50% new oak.
