Tasting Note:

It is twenty years since Nicolas Thienpont took the reins at Pavie Macquin and started working with a young talented Stéphane Derenoncourt. They instantly bonded and Stéphane was promoted to maître de chai. They have worked on numerous projects since this chance meeting. Pavie Macquin is modern, but engaging and possesses a harmony and balance that few wines in the St Emilion UGC achieved! Aromatically complex and exotic with notes of blueberries, potpourri, scorched earth, coal dust and spice. The palate is packed with liqueur cherries and elegant red fruits and has a silken tannic structure which holds it together. There's some finesse here and charm. 85% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Cabernet Franc.
