Tasting Note:

Pauline Calvet's Picque Caillou estate is situated between Haut Brion and Merignac airport. Sitting between Pape Clement and Smith Haut Lafitte at the UGC tasting, one might think that little Picque Caillou would be left behind, but this is a serious Graves and more than holds its own. There is lots of extract, quite big with notes of blackcurrant jam, wood spice, damson and hedgerow fruit. There is lots of tannic extract so this will need a few years to settle down, but there is plenty of potential.
