Tasting Note:

Pauline Calvet's Picque Caillou is a bit of a giant killer. Situated between Haut Brion and Merignac airport it makes a habit of outclassing far more illustrious names from the Pessac Leognan commune. Produced from 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot and aged in 38% new oak barrels and a mixture of one and two year old barrels, this is another fine example from this high flying estate. Perfumed, floral infused fruit, cherry blossom and pure raspberry. The fruit is really fluid and honest with a distinct Cabernet profile of cassis and minerals. There's lovely purity here and sympathetic tannins that frame the fruit and don't dominate. Another super Picque Caillou.
