Tasting Note:
Yields were back to an abundant 50hl/ha and the wine is back to its fluid and seductive best. There's initially an intense bouquet of kirsch and black forest gateaux, then there are some medicinal and herbal notes. Lush, dense and sweet, the palate is beautifully textured, velvety dark cherry fruit, sweet and sumptuous; it's not classically Bordeaux, but it's very appealing. The tannins are coated with dark berries, bitter chocolate and savoury mineral notes. Back to its best! 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon.
"The 2019 Roc de Cambes is focused and intense on the nose with Japanese nori tinged black fruit, damp loamy soil and later, hints of violet and incense. The palate is very well balanced with supple tannins, supremely well judged acidity and an irresistible creamy texture that maintains tension on the finish. This is a sophisticated and very satisfying Roc de Cambes in the making. 2024 - 2040. 92-94/100". - Neal Martin, vinous.com
