Tasting Note:

Clos La Madeleine, a jewel-like vineyard of just 2.3 hectares, is located on the south-facing plateau and terraces of Saint-Emilion, nestled in the vineyard of Château Bélair-Monange. The estate was acquired by Ets. Jean-Pierre Moueix in September 2017. Edouard explained that the vines were in need of some TLC, but the potential of this plot is very exciting. We loved the highbrow 2019 and if anything this is another step up. You really feel the quality of the limestone terroir. Blue and black fruit merge with flowers and graphite. There’s plenty of concentration and detail on the mid-palate; waves of dark fruit, mingled with liqueur cherries and chocolate box notes, then plush tannins coated with luxuriant fruits on the lingering finish. It’s so moreish, you want to drink it now. A wonderfully seductive 100% Merlot cuvee.
