Tasting Note:

Jonathan likes to recount in self-deprecating fashion - his intention was to produce a cult Merlot dominated wine, what he has ended up with, is the purest expression of Cabernet Franc in Bordeaux! Produced from a whopping 80% Cabernet Franc and 20% Merlot from a plot to the west of Angelus, Le Dome, like Palmer in Margaux, doesn't use any sulphur before fermentations. There has been a general trend toward a fresher more vibrant Le Dome in recent years, but the 2016 seemed a bit overripe and lacks zip. Distinct notes of black forest gateaux, liquorice, blueberries and sous bois. The palate is awash with sleek, mouth coating fruit, notes of crème de menthe and liqueur chocolates. It is impressive, but just seems a little overdone.
