Denis Mortet

Grape Type:

Pinot Noir

Gevrey Chambertin, Champeaux, 1er Cru, 2017

Tasting Note:

Higher toned and more lithe than the Champonnets. An intense mid palate packed with lots of sweet forest berry fruit, juicy red fruit notes of raspberry and cherry, with some woody spice and ripe damson notes. Tense and elegant, concentrated but unforced intensity. Fine-tuned, brilliant, vibrant flavours echo on the long finish. From vines aged between 70 and 100 years-old on the north side of the Gevrey
appellation, a cooler terroir rather like En Champs with poor limestone soils. Aged in 40% new oak. 30% whole bunch fermentation.
