Tasting Note:

Pungently floral, open and aromatic, notes of rose petal and geranium. The whole bunch element really works well here, gripping and defining the gregarious, ripe flowery cherry fruit, adding a bit of sap and nerve. De Montille’s vines in Mitans are 55-60 years-old; they produce tiny (millerande) berries every year that are highly concentrated. The vineyard’s soils are light and shallow with a strong limestone content. The grapes and bunches ripen very well most years so this often is fermented with a lot of whole bunches, in 2017 this was two thirds whole cluster fermentation. Aged in 30% new oak.
