La Romanée

Grape Type:

Pinot Noir

La Romanée, Grand Cru, 2018

Tasting Note:

Always the most closed and brooding of Louis-Michel's wines but you can feel the depth and potential it carries. Such gravitas. Immense latent energy. So assured and composed but such depth and intensity. Everlasting flavours of wild berry, herb, stone mineral, bullace and cherry. A collection of flavours that really delivers a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts. Awe-inspiring. The jewel in the crown of Domaine du Comte Liger Belair. A hallowed 0.84 hectares monopole situated just above La Romanée Conti. The soil structure is complex, a mix of marl and red and yellow gravel over clay, silt and limestone. Unusually the vines, that average 50 years old, are planted on a north-south axis. The wines are typically harmonious and haunting, often reserved and with hidden power in their youth, they blossom with bottle age.
