Tasting Note:

Whilst showing similarly bright fragrant red cherry fruit, this is less overt and immediate than the Domaine’s Charmes-Chambertin. A little sterner and with more density but with great finesse, balance and composure. Stone undergrowth and rocky mineral flavours are overlaid by top notes of cherry and alpine strawberry, rounded off by a long silken finish. Great ageing potential. A blend of two parcels within Clos de la Roche planted between 1953 and 1965. A shallow top layer of white limestone, clay and marl soils planted over hard rock. These old vines on poor compact soils lend this wine its great complexity and minerality .
