Tasting Note:

Intense, dense but fine-grained and velvety; incredibly lively and vibrant for a Clos Vougeot, this certainly does not get too bogged down in its own muscle and richness. Wonderful Autumn berry fruit, plum, bramble and red cherry with hints of salt, bilberry, violet and cinnamon spice. Philippe Drouhin’s parcel of Clos de Vougeot is particularly well situated and it shows in the wine; year in and year out it is consistently one of the best examples there is of this huge Grand Cru. Philippe has two main blocks, the larger of the two next door to Domaine Eugenie (formally Rene Engel), the other in the middle north sector just below Grands Echézeaux.
