Tasting Note:

Whilst offering that classic Clos de Vougeot breadth and corpulence, there is still a clear sense of proportion here. The fullsome, dark plum, bramble and plum liqueur fruit is delivered seamlessly on the palate thanks to a sensual, velvety texture. Suave and all-consuming. Impressive. Drouhin-Laroze's parcel of Clos de Vougeot is particularly well situated and it shows in the wine. Their 1HA of vines is spread over two lieux dits in the northwestern corner of the vineyard, "Plante l'Abbé” and "Quartier de Marei Haut”, in the sector called "des Papes" - owing to the factor the produce from this sector was reserved for the Popes of Avignon. De-stalked and aged in 80% new oak.
