Beaune, Clos des Mouches, Blanc, 1er Cru, 2019

Tasting Note:

Although you can feel the oak here a little more here than with the Chassagne Laguiche, it is a bigger wine and has plenty of substance to cover the oak. A very crisp acidity helps, too. Bold pain d'épices flavours jump out from the glass, balanced by a crystallised citrus rind freshness, even a hint of ginger. Fullsome, long and harmonious. A distinctive and heartier style white burgundy but an accomplished one at that. The Drouhin flagship vineyard, half of which is planted to Chardonnay and half to Pinot Noir. Situated mid-slope with a fine east and south east exposure, producing intense, spicy, round wines. Ageing is for 15 months in 25% new oak barrels.
