Tasting Note:

A vineyard just below Chaumee with more clay in the soils yielding full archetypal Chassagne. Lovely gentle fluid fruit on the nose encompassing peach skin, citrus and apples leading in to a full and supple palate resplendent with stone fruit, honey and butter. While on the one hand generous and easy to appreciate, it has a subtle, fine acid thread which keeps it fresh and helps to balance that natural fleshiness. Delicious from the outset, this is a full bodied, very giving and seductive Chassagne – perhaps a product of the richer clay soils of the site – but one that is still fluid, with hardly any oak flavours, and the impression that it is less obviously “solaire” than it could have been.
