Tasting Note:

A very different prospect to the Bearwallow Chardonnays, this opens with smoky, flinty nutty citrus notes that tasted blind could easily lead you to Meursault rather than Santa Cruz - the oak is perfectly judged, smoky, not sweet. On the palate this is the most intense and concentrated wine, almost in the entire line-up, with great acidity steering a palate composed of tightly knit salty lemon and toasted hazelnut notes on a bed of crushed mountain rocks. There's real vibrancy and uplift on the finish of this very serious, focused Chardonnay. Long and vital, superb.
