Tasting Note:

One of the highest Rhys sites comprised of very shallow low vigour soils on limestone and shale. After numerous years Jeff and Kevin have come to the conclusion that whole cluster doesn’t add anything here, so this cuvee is entirely destemmed. The aromatic profile is complex in pure fruit notes, alpine berry, hedgerow and wild raspberries which does nothing to prepare you for the palate which is rich in the non-fruit notes; tea, nori, terracotta spice, salt and finally bright dark berries. Exceptionally sleek in texture, this glides across the palate seamlessly, the tannins melting at first, then growing slowly as notes of wild berry and soy emerge. This is very smart indeed.
