Egly Ouriet, Grand Cru, Vintage, 2011

Tasting Note:

Strikingly different with oyster shell, gunflint, cacao nib, orange and dried flowers aromas that create a complex and fascinating aromatic profile. This is very much the sort of wine to accompany interesting plates, accent notes of Szechuan pepper, bay leaf and ginger suggesting a fine marriage with delicately exotic dishes. On the palate this is an ‘11 with no shortage of grownup, savoury, complex nuance. Very dry but not austere, as the dried flower, rock salt, orange peel and fine bakery notes land like powder across the palate and lead to a fine and appetising finish. Power without density. A mighty impressive 2011.
