Pinot Noir

Blanc de Noirs, 2012

Tasting Note:

The Blanc de Noirs 2012 from Philipponnat is the best rendition yet, with superb pitch and definition to its rich, spiced red fruit character. The fruit for this cuvee comes from Premier and Grand Cru plots in Mareuil sur Ay and the Montagne de Reims. It takes the wonderful steely line of the 2008 and covers it in bold, precise, concentrated fruit. Beautifully structured it has a high definition mousse that caresses the palate, supporting expressive notes of beignet lemon peel, golden spices and bright red fruits, all underpinned by a beam of fabulous acidity. It has huge character but also precision, with as much emphasis on flavour as freshness. It’s a delicious combination and a year after disgorgement it is in a very good place indeed. 100% Pinot Noir from 1er and Grand Cru plots in Mareuil and the Montagne de Reims. Disgorged in May 2018, with just 4.5g/l of residual sugar.
