Tasting Note:

An endlessly fascinating Champagne disgorged after almost 25 years sur lie, from one of our favourite vintages in the ‘90s. Honey brioche, ginger cake and fresh cèpe, à certain spicy element, fallen leaves, and crisp notes of chalk and deep ginger infused fruit, then a note of roasted cacao and zest lemon all inform the nose of this erudite yet beguiling Clos des Goisses. This is both dark and bright, complex and precise on the palate, with anise, spice cakes, short crust pasty, beurre noisette, baked white fruit but also the fresh cut of lemon, fine stones, and even a little red fruit still. There’s a great deal going on here, plenty of freshness, and impressive length in this complex interesting and beautifully measured Clos des Goisses LV. A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay. Dosage 4.5g/l. A release of just 300 bottles, disgorged in March 2020.
