Tasting Note:

A blend of the finest parcels across the Paillard estate, comprised of 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay, La Grande Récolte is only released after 10 years sur lie and as such this release marks the year the young brothers Quentin and Antoine returned to join their father. A savoury bottling that initially leans to notes of yeast and fine champignon de Paris, with fine lemon tart, butter cream, ginger and pastry notes opening up with air. The Chardonnay dimension seems to grow as this sits in the glass, with herb and salty bakery notes on the finish. This doesn’t perhaps possess the sophistication or precision of more recent bottlings made under the new regime, but a fascinating 2008 nonetheless.
