Tasting Note:

Fantastically expressive, rich biscuity nose, salted shortbread, fine pinot fruit, blood orange and redcurrant. The palate is full of peach, raspberry and chalk notes, a spicy ginger note with a mousse, rich in very fine bubbles and more of that saltiness. This is take no prisoners dry, but also layered and deep, with an impressively tonic feel bouncing off a remarkably refined structure. A champagne of great purity and clarity. 2016 was the first vintage to be vinified in oak barrels. Bottled with 2 grams of dosage. Disgorged Feb 2021 after 42 months sur lie. Maillerets is an excellent Bouzy vineyard, where pure chalk likes just 50cms below the clay topsoil. The vines were planted in 1970 and today act as one of the mother blocks for the Paillards’ selections massales.
