Ulysse Collin

Grape Variety:

Ulysse Collin, Les Pierrieres, Blanc de Blancs, Extra Brut (Base 2013, Disgorged Feb 2017), NV

Tasting Note:

An east facing vineyard where the ancient soils are composed of tender chalk and black silex–similar to those found in Montgueux, famed chardonnay outpost in the south. The resulting wine is one of fabulous clear, mineral precision, all stony citrus and cool chalk notes. The bulles are fine, the sense of tension palpable and the finish long and intense. Wonderfully pure. The composition, as Olivier moves towards an even greater proportion of reserve wine in the blend, is 50% from the fantastic 2013 vintage, with 50% a blend of reserve wines (aged in fuder) from 2012 and 2011. Just 12500 bottles produced from a 1.3 hectare vineyard in the village of Toulon les Montagne, 5kms from the winery at Congy, bottled with under 2g dosage.
