Ulysse Collin

Grape Variety:

Ulysse Collin, Les Pierrieres, Blanc de Blancs, Extra Brut (Base 2014, Disgorged March 2018), NV

Tasting Note:

Composed of 80% reserve wine and just 20% base wine from the 2014 vintage, entirely from the Pierrieres vineyard, disgorged in March 2018 after 36 months sur lie and bottled with just under 2 grams of dosage. Wonderfully expressive and with a pure and crisp Chardonnay character, finely pitched citrus and lemon balm, fine salt and minerals. You can sense the pure chardonnay fruit, but also with air more and more of the flint that found amongst the chalk in the Pierrieres subsoils. A stony savoury note on the palate along with fine bakery note and and a lovely zesty citrus character on the finish. Taut and long, Champagne’s equivalent of Puligny Montrachet from a high, stony vineyard.
