Chateau Lafleur

A special ex Chateau release from the Guinaudeau estates

We are delighted to announce a new joint distribution agreement for Château Lafleur between Justerini & Brooks and the Guinaudeau family. As many of our customers will already know, we have been admirers and promoters of the family’s wines for years, so it is a great honour to now formally represent their brilliant portfolio of wines in the UK.

Jacques and Sylvie, and their son and daughter-in-law Baptiste and Julie, farm with a ‘Burgundian ethos’. Their wines are the product of toil and extraordinary attention to detail: from the vineyards, through to the wine-making and now, with their ex-Château offers, into proof-tagged bottles. Lafleur is a labour of love.

This jewel of Pomerol is a 4.5 hectare vineyard situated next to another rare jewel - Petrus. Lafleur was purchased by Jacques’ great-great-grandfather in 1872. In 2001, after the death of Marie Robin, Jacques’ aunt, they sold their stake in Le Gay to the late Madame Péré-Vergé and purchased Château Lafleur. Planted with 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Franc, the vineyard is an exceptional and complex terroir capable of producing exquisite and exhilarating wines. Robert Parker rather succinctly describes Lafleur as “one of the most distinctive, most exotic, and greatest wines – not only in Pomerol, but in the world.”

Jacques and Sylvie have always been pioneers and travel widely to meet other world-class vignerons, to appreciate their wines and share techniques. Two such examples are their use of Prooftags to help combat fraud, and the use of Sancerre clones. Château Lafleur was the first Bordeaux estate to adopt Prooftags; all ex-Château stocks are fitted with the tags, ensuring clients absolute confidence in the provenance and quality of their purchases*. While the world renowned Château Lafleur is clearly their flagship wine, Jacques and Sylvie’s home estate of Grand Village produces wonderful reds and sensational whites. An experiment with a 100% Sauvignon Blanc cuvee from Sancerre clones in 2012 will sadly never be commercially available, but it has a Dagueneau-esque intensity and will live long in our memory. The Grand Village Blanc is certainly one of the most stylish and exciting dry white wines from Bordeaux and represents remarkable value for money.

All the wines offered below are still in the cellars of Lafleur and will be collected and shipped by us in May. Wines are offered in bond, subject to final confirmation. This offer is only available to private collectors and hotels and restaurants. To place an order, please contact your Account Manager or email

Prooftags are only currently available on ex-Château releases of Lafleur. Please visit the Prooftag website for more information.
