Domaine de la Pousse d'Or
Since buying this magnificent Cote de Beaune Domaine from the Potels in the nineties, Patrick Landanger, an engineer by trade, re-trained as a full time vigneron, over many years learning new skills and getting to know his land. In the last few vintages his wines have started to hit the very high standards he has always set for himself. It was the 2010 vintage we were first struck by, a year that convinced us we had to start buying.
In 2008 Patrick purchased the 3.5ha Moine-Hudelot estate in Chambolle-Musigny, increasing the Domaine to a total of 17ha. This added some of the very top Cote de Nuits Grands and Premiers Crus to their already impressive Cote de Beaune vineyard portfolio. The grapes are all de-stalked and fermented and aged in a gravity-fed winery. The winemaking is much gentler than when Patrick first bought the estate and the resulting wines are full of depth and intensity that are reflective of their terroir. Several bottle tastings over the last few years, including the annual (blind) burgfest event, have shown these to be hugely impressive, silky Burgundies. This very much feels like the beginning of a golden era for Pousse d'Or.
