    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Formerly known as Chapelle de la Madeleine in recognition of the tiny Romanesque chapel that sits among the vines atop the limestone hill of Ausone, the change of name echoes the fact that this wine is truly worthy of the name Ausone. A "second label" in name only, this wine is classified a 1er Grand Cru Classé and is far superior to almost any other wine of a similar price within the appellation.

    Stephen Tanzer,

Deep ruby-red. Highly aromatic nose combines cassis, blackberry, minerals, violet and licorice. Sweet, chewy and generous, with excellent depth of flavor framed by ripe acids. Notes of bitter chocolate, violet and licorice. The wine's very firm acids combine with its big, toothdusting tannins to give the finish a youthful toughness. But this should be a terrific second wine.
