    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

In contrast to Haut Brion's aromatic reticence, La Mission is almost flamboyant, with lush, supple scents of pure cassis, liquid minerals and red cherry blossom, yet retaining a measured elegance that shows real class. Tight knit on the palate, showing vibrant purple fruit character, creamy blackberry, raspberry and cherry, extremely rich and minerally, with fresh and manicured tannins. Terribly smart, yielding further dimensions each minute in the glass, with a lingering finish of delicate, spicy new oak. Very good indeed, and built to last 50 years+. 59% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Cabernet Franc.

Bright red-ruby. Redcurrant, cherry, iron, brown spices and licorice on the nose. Begins lush, full and generous if not overly sweet, then tightens up with air, showing its rather powerful underlying structure. This sharply delineated wine will need a good seven or eight years in bottle to reveal itself.
