    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note
    Château Poujeaux, Moulis, 2009

This must be the largest scale Poujeaux ever. The dream team of Thienpont and Derenoncourt are helping out here and their effect has been instantaneous. Inky, brooding, reserved on the nose, but with aeration there are hints of heady flowers, fresh herbs, damsons and black fruits. This possesses massive depth and power. A rich almost decadent Poujeaux of considerable substance. This will require long-term cellaring, but is undoubtedly a very smart wine.

The 2009 Poujeaux has a very pure bouquet with more red fruit than black, quite high toned with crushed violet scents emerging with time, almost Right Bank in style. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin, and well judged acidity. A little heady in style with some warm alcohol towards the finish. Decadent for a Moulis but enjoyable, though I suspect the 2010 is the safer long term bet. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits' Ten Year On tasting.
