Les Perrières, 2024
Composed from 80% Bouchet and 20% Merlot, all massale selections from oldest and best rootstock from the Lafleur vineyard, now planted on this deep limestone plot in Fronsac. The bouquet opens with fragrant notes of bright raspberry, red cherries, and a touch of goji berry, underscored by notions of crushed rocks and a dusting of white pepper. These primary aromas mingle delicately with touches of graphite and the floral elegance of lilac and peonies. . A palpable limestone energy runs through the mid-palate, packed with high-toned, crunchy red berries with impressive depth and intensity. Pure and precise fruit is supported by filigree tannins that lead to a persistent and mouthwatering finish leaving a chalky, limestone impression with a subtle, salty orange rind note.
critic reviews
Deep garnet-purple colored. Races out of the glass with energetic scents of red currant jelly, Bing cherries, and red roses, leading to hints of pencil shavings and charcoal. The medium-bodied palate delivers a rock-solid backbone of super-fine-grained tannins and bold freshness supporting the red berry and floral layers, finishing very long and minerally. Gorgeous!
The 2024 Les Perrières was picked from September 25 to October 3 from limestone soils. This has a pretty bouquet of redcurrant and cranberry scents with very discrete oak and touches of slate in the background. Very fine delineation. The palate is silky smooth on the entry with harmonious, pliable tannins and supremely well-judged acidity. A ripe, persistent, mineral-driven finish keeps this Les Perrières on its tippy-toes. Very impressive given the vintage, with so much freshness.
Deep ruby colour, high floral aromatics, sinewy texture, salinity and grace. A touch of austerity, clear floral character here, iris, peony, chamomile tea, redcurrant, gunsmoke, a curl of grilled sage, this unfurls through the palate with grip on the finish, tension, chalk texture. Harvest 25 September to 3 October. Lafleur team working under Julie and Baptiste Guinaudeau.
A blend of 80% Cabernet Franc (or "Bouchets," in the language of the Guinaudeau family) and 20% Merlot, the 2024 Les Perrieres de Lafleur is a refined and pure wine that stands out despite the challenges of the vintage. It opens with a bouquet redolent of violet, cassis, fresh licorice and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and layered, the palate is chiseled and precise, supported by powdery tannins and lively acids and concluding with an ethereal, lingering finish.
